My name is Nancy Buhr, and I grew up in Luxemburg, Wisconsin—what my family likes to joke is a suburb of Green Bay. My husband, David, and I have three children and six grandchildren. Although we are technically retired, I still have plenty of energy, and Brown County Jail Ministries has been a meaningful place to invest that. I was first introduced to the ministry when a close friend became the jail chaplain, and the challenges she faced prompted me to stay informed and support the work in any way I could. Serving on the Brown County Jail Ministries Board has allowed me to better understand the needs of incarcerated individuals, their families, and the staff, and to support efforts that foster hope, personal growth, and positive change. I consider it a privilege to be part of a ministry that sees lives moving in new directions and people taking steps toward healthier, more stable futures.
